Physiotherapy FAQs
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession focused on restoring movement, function, and strength following injury, pain, or physical limitations. It combines assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise-based rehabilitation, and education to support recovery and long-term health.
People see a physiotherapist to reduce pain, recover from injury or surgery, improve movement, prevent future injuries, and return to daily activities or sport with confidence.
Physiotherapy is appropriate for individuals of all ages and activity levels, including athletes, active adults, people recovering from injury or surgery, and those managing chronic pain or mobility concerns.
Physiotherapy can help with a wide range of conditions, including sports injuries, back and neck pain, knee arthritis, sciatica, post-surgical recovery, concussion management, and balance or mobility issues.
Your first physiotherapy appointment includes a comprehensive assessment, discussion of your goals, hands-on treatment when appropriate, and a personalized exercise or recovery plan tailored to your needs.
No. A doctor’s referral is not required to see a physiotherapist in British Columbia. Some extended health plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking with your insurance provider.
Our approach is assessment-driven and active. We focus on identifying the root cause of your symptoms and building a personalized plan that may include hands-on care, exercise, movement retraining, and education. We also collaborate closely with your medical doctors, our chiropractic, massage therapy, and kinesiology teams when appropriate.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Athletic or loose-fitting clothing is ideal. Your physiotherapist may ask to assess certain areas, and privacy is always respected.
Registered Massage Therapy FAQs
Registered massage therapy (RMT) is a clinically focused treatment provided by licensed professionals. It targets pain relief, muscle tension, injury recovery, and movement support rather than relaxation alone.
Most extended health benefit plans cover registered massage therapy. We offer direct billing for many insurance providers when available.
Wear comfortable clothing. Your registered massage therapist will explain treatment positioning, draping, and ensure your comfort and privacy throughout the session.
Chiropractic Care FAQs
Chiropractic care can help with back pain, neck pain, joint stiffness, headaches related to musculoskeletal tension, and movement restrictions that affect daily activities or performance.
Yes. Chiropractic care is safe when provided by licensed professionals and tailored to your individual condition, health history, and comfort level.
Treatment plans vary depending on your condition and goals. Some people benefit from short-term care, while others choose periodic or maintenance visits.
Kinesiology & Active Rehabilitation FAQs
Kinesiology focuses on exercise-based rehabilitation, movement retraining, and injury prevention. It is often used alongside physiotherapy or chiropractic care to support long-term recovery and performance.
Kinesiology is ideal for individuals transitioning from injury recovery to independent exercise, athletes returning to sport, and those seeking guided strength, conditioning, and movement programs.
